Amadeus Hotel Krakow

Wentzl Hotel Krakow hotel

There's nothing average about the Amadeus. Excellent location 2 minutes from the Market Square, the hotel's name in honor of Mozart and the décor from his era make for a truly unforgettable experience. We recognize the hotel's character the very moment we enter its doors. First, we see a well-maintained façade of an 18th-century tenement house and then in every room we visit, we can see many details emulating the ambience of that era.
However, there's no need to worry - the Amadeus has been open since 2000, which means that its equipment will satisfy even the most contemporary tourists. Relaxing in the apartment's Jacuzzi or working on a computer in the room, we feel like aristocrats thanks to the hotels ambience and the magnificent guests who had visited it before us. What else could we possibly dream of? Perhaps only of staying here as long as possible at a price we would pay at an Ibis. Or of meeting in the hallway one of the celebrities (for example Lithuania's president Valdas Adamkus or the singer Ingrid) who had stayed at the Amadeus in the past.

A wonderful, luxurious journey several centuries into the past is the best description of this place. It's a real gem for those who like colorful boutique hotels.

Rooms

As soon as we enter the lobby, looking at the portrait of Mozart and sophisticated details that the designers placed in the interior, we can presume that the baroque atmosphere will accompany us every step of the way.
22 rooms, including 2 apartments located on 3 floors make the hotel "just right" - we don't feel too lonesome, but at the same time we can relax easily and enjoy undisturbed intimacy. Here one can forget the long, monotonous hallways and crowds of travelers, which are a common sight in large hotel chains.
Every room is equipped with TV SAT, mini bar, radio, hair dryer, telephone, wireless internet access and air-conditioning. What's more, there's an eye-pleasing color scheme: mainly light, pastel pinks, beiges and whites.
The attic rooms are also quite charming, although the ceiling is a bit too low.
If we've selected an apartment, we must find a free evening to spend in a Jacuzzi, accompanied by at least some good wine and music.

Restaurant

Admiration for the hotel's decor doesn't end wits its lobby or the rooms. Entering the cellar, we discover another charming part of the Amadeus - the restaurant full of beautiful frescos, candles, stylish columns and richly-colored paintings.
Even without looking at the menu, we can suspect that a meal here will taste different, better and richer. And that's how it really is and the ideas of the chef, who on request will make any meal we wish, are best described by the rich, sophisticated menu. We can also have a meal in our room. The standard menu features specialties of Polish and European cuisine. How can one not be tempted by, for instance, "Saddle of deer stuffed with shrimp served with buckwheat in a basket of cheese chips" with a glass of wine and an exquisite marzipan cake as dessert?
Breakfast is full of various hot (superb scrambled eggs and omelets) and cold dishes. Let's just hope that we have enough space and time to enjoy it.
On the hotel's first floor there's a cafe and a bar offering a wide range of alcoholic beverages, including a large selection of Polish liqueurs.

Conference

The Amadeus didn't forget about businesspeople. They can use a modern conference room that can accommodate about 50 persons. Another, even more exclusive meeting place is the stylish Club Room, which holds up to 12 people and it's perfect for face-to-face meetings.

Additional services

The baroque style is only supposed to create the ambience of a bygone era at the hotel, which by the way has been achieved with great success. All the rest is modernity, including the hotel's offer to spend some free time in a Jacuzzi, sauna or simply work out some sweat in a gym.
For guests with their own cars, the hotel provides a guarded car park, which is located 150 meters from the hotel. The price for 24 hours is 40-45 PLN.
Looking for better prices and ideas for a more eventful stay, it's worth considering packages offered by the hotel. In addition to the "Romantic Weekend", we can take advantage of a Krakow package tour, which will allow us to leave with a large collection of photos from Poland's beautiful former capital.

Location

The building of the Amadeus Hotel is a historic, 17th-century tenement house with facade richly decorated with the coat of arms of the Odrowąż family, a 17th-century oil painting depicting Our Lady of the Rosary and neo-renaissance doors.
Mikołajska Street, where the hotel is located, leads directly to the Market Square - we only have to cover the distance of 200 meters. On the way we pass the best that Krakow has to offer in the entertainment and culinary aspects: cozy pubs, restaurants and bars offering cuisine from world over, all in the shadow of Krakow's ancient architecture. If in the evening we hear some noise of Krakow's vibrant nightlife, that'd be the only flaw resulting from the hotel's superb location.
The PKP railway station is within walking distance - about 1000 meters. Wawel Castle can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.
The nearest airport - Krakow Balice - is located 14 kilometers away.
We'd miss out on quite a few interesting experiences if staying for several days in Krakow we failed to visit the famous salt mine in nearby Wieliczka.
