The Cracovia has several strong advantages, among which its location close to the Błonia Park, Wawel Castle and the Old Town is probably the most important. Another one is excellent public transportation. The third one – low rates, especially if we take advantage of special offers proposed by the Orbis chain the hotel belongs to.
More than 300 rooms make the hotel one of Krakow's largest and during the season it attracts crowds of tourists. Unfortunately, the hotel is well past its prime and if we want a new, well-maintained interior, it's better to look elsewhere.
There is an inexpensive restaurant and bar on the premises.
The hotel is a good solution if we want to save some money on accommodations and spend it instead on Krakow's attractions.
Rooms
Rooms, numbering over 300 in total, are clean and well-kept for their age, however Orbis should consider renovation. There are singles, doubles and several apartments available. Singles are a bit too small. Bathrooms and rooms themselves are clean. Generally, they don't lack anything; however, it's much nicer to live in new or at least recently renovated rooms.
Standard equipment of the rooms includes TV SAT, telephone and radio.
After purchasing an access card, it's possible to use wireless internet.
Air conditioning would be useful, especially in rooms facing the street. Sometimes there's too much traffic noise audible in them when we open a window too wide.
Similarly, if we encounter a larger group (for instance a school excursion), we may not be able to enjoy quietness, although that's something we have to take into consideration when staying at a large hotel.
Restaurant
Getting acquainted with the restaurant while having breakfast, we can have quite a good opinion. The buffet selection is good, tasty and allows one to gain energy for the start of the day. Prices in the restaurant are as low as those for hotel accommodations.
There's also a cafe in the hotel with an adjacent glass-covered terrace from which there's a view of the Błonia Park.
Additional services
The hotel has its own guarded car park. Unfortunately, it isn't cheap – it costs 45 PLN for 24 hours.
There's wireless internet access at the hotel. That service is available for an extra fee of 10 or 20 PLN, depending on the type of access card we purchase.
