The Secesja - a small (twenty-some rooms) hotel, located on the edge of the former Jewish district- Kazimierz, literally a few steps from Wawel Hill, deservedly gets 3 stars, although it stands out slightly among other hotels in its vicinity.
Air-conditioned rooms with mini-bars, own restaurant and a drink bar, conference room - the hotel's offer is quite versatile. Individual tourists looking for inexpensive accommodations will feel good here, as well as families and groups attending organized courses.
Both the name of the hotel, as well as its brown glass facade, which stands out among the neighboring houses, presage the style, in which the restaurant, the rooms and the hotel's pleasant, large lobby are decorated.
This is one of the newest hotels in Kazimierz. Unfortunately, it doesn't have its own, separate parking, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to park near the Secesja.
In the reception, we'll have no problems communicating in English.
Rooms
The Secesja is a building with several stories, which has 20 double rooms, 4 single rooms and 2 apartments. The interior decor, influenced by the secessional style and a nice staff, enhance the impression of privacy and hospitality, which one gets entering the hotel.
All the rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with their own bath and shower. Their standard equipment consists of: TV Sat, telephone, radio (in some rooms a bit funnily built into the bed's housing) and mini bar.
The rooms are very clean, their furniture functional and not showing any signs of wear (the hotel is one of the newest establishments of this type in Kazimierz).
Doubles are mid-size, rectangular shaped, long and may seem a bit to narrow to some.
It's good if we got a room with windows facing the green fields of Kazimierz with the Augustian Monastery and the St. Catherine Church in the background - it's a very nice, relaxing view.
If we decide to rent an apartment in the Secesja, we'll have the chance to enjoy its balcony.
Although the hotel is situated directly on the street, there's no noise problem, traffic on Paulinska Street is light.
In the Secesja there is one room for the handicapped.
There's no differentiation between smoking and non-smoking rooms.
Restaurant
Directly from the spacious lobby, we enter the neighboring drink bar, and right after that, there's the restaurant. Here, the attempt to give the interior a distinct style is even more obvious. Peach-salmon color of the walls creates a friendly atmosphere, beautiful credenzas, stylish lamps, paintings, chandeliers and flowers make us feel exceptional and with real curiosity we wait for Polish and international cuisine served here. „Bacon-wrapped sirloin in basil-champignon sauce” and for dessert “Pear in silk chocolate glaze” don't shock with their prices, quite contrary.
Restaurant is air-conditioned.
Small drink bar, hidden behind the lobby and very subtly lighted offers delicious coffee and a large choice of alcoholic beverages.
Kazimierz is above all a district of pubs, restaurants and bars. So, if we'd like to try something different than can be found in the Secesja's menu, there are several dozens of establishments, located within just 1 km.
Conference rooms
The Secesja Hotel offers professionally equipped room for conferences and training courses. Price of the conference room rental includes basic conference equipment: screen, flip chart, foil projector, TV set, video player.
The conference room will accommodate 20-40 persons, depending on the arrangement.
Restaurant provides full gastronomic service for events organized at the hotel.
