The Wentzl Hotel belongs to one of the most stylish hotels in whole Poland. Bright and warm lights coming from the windows of the well-kept façade attract travelers visiting Krakow in the evening. The Wentzl Hotel is located in the XV century’s tenement house right next to the Main Market. In this tenement house, in 1792 Jan Wentzl has founded a restaurant, which is nowadays perceived as one of the best restaurants in Krakow. Some time later in the same building a luxurious hotel was opened. The stay in that hotel will leave pleasant memories due to the high quality of service if provides and to its excellent localization in the Krakow’s Old Town.
Rooms
There 12 originally furnished and arranged single and double rooms waiting for the guests in the Wentzl hotel. All the guests can enjoy a Main Market view from their rooms. All the rooms are arranged in a unique style. Wooden floors and ceilings (in some of the rooms) make you forget about the mass character of the rooms in most of the hotels of the lower standard. Stylish, wooden furniture make all the rooms very charming. It is hard to make a universal description of all the rooms in Wentzl Hotel. Each of them is arranged uniquely, in a different way. In some the character is described by the rich curtains, in others by stylish wainscot or the lights giving a magical atmosphere. The common feature of all the rooms is the undeniable stylishness.
RestaurantThe restaurant which was the basis for founding the Wentzl hotel was opened in 1792. Jan Wentzl, its founder has moved his business to this building in the 18th century. Since then the restaurant has remained in Wentzls’ hands. Throughout two centuries it managed to gain an excellent image. Some say it is the best restaurant in whole Krakow. While coming to the Wentzl restaurant or even while passing by it is worth taking a look at the painting on the façade of the building. The legend says that it was created by the Krakow Academy’s student in order to repay the debts for the food and drinks he had made in the restaurant. The interiors of the Wentzl restaurant remind of the places Polish aristocracy used to eat in previous centuries. Neatly prepared tables, the candles on them, ornamented, renaissance doors and a stove in the corner of the rooms make the meal in the Wentzl restaurant a very nice experience. The renaissance interiors are touched with the modernity (e.g. the lights). The restaurant’s french chef, Mr. Anthony Lelievre took care about a wide choice of the dishes from the Polish and international cuisine. All the dishes are sophisticated and the guest who has decided to have lunch or dinner at the Wentzl restaurant has a really tough choice to make. Should one choose the chanterelle stewed in cream fried with some poultry or maybe duck fillet with light rosemary aroma with vegetables and foie gras, orange sauce or wild boar tenderloin marinated in dried cranberries in sichuan pepper sauce? Which delicious dessert to choose? (The Wentzl confectioneries are very famous among Krakow citizens). And there is a wine choice left as well. The helpful restaurant’s staff will help you to make the right choice. The prices in the Wentzl restaurant are higher than average, but the delicacies prepared by the chef will make the cost sweet. Apart from the culinary ones, there are also artistic sensations waiting for the Wentzl’s guests in the restaurant. In the interiors you can admire the paintings of Tadeusz Makowski, Jacek Malczewski, Zygmunt Waliszewski, Stanisław Ignacy Witkiwicz, Józef Mehoffer, Józef Chełmoński, Vlastimil Hoffman and others from the National Museum’s in Cracow famous collection. There is also a possibility of organizing a splendid banquet or party. In that matter you have to contact the Wentzl restaurant directly.
