Wyspianski Hotel Krakow hotel

Although the building itself is more reminiscent of the sixties and its looks may suggest a hostel, it only takes one glance at the lobby and the neighboring bar for our fears to vanish. The hotel's facade can be slightly misleading, because it looks a bit worn, however, Wyspianski's interior has been renovated and if we must compare, it looks far better than the building's outside. That's due to the fact that in 2003 Wyspianski underwent a general renovation, which was significantly more beneficial to its interior.
Wyspianski has more than 150 rooms, but during the season it isn't always easy to reserve a room here- the hotel is very popular among individual tourists and groups.
That's largely thanks to its superb location (less than 300 meters from the Market Square) and a quite decent array of available services- own restaurant, bar, conference rooms, parking right next to the hotel.
Wyspianski is a hotel for those seeking inexpensive accommodations, who don't mind a larger number of guests around (including in many cases groups consisting of quite „lively” and rowdy children, youth and students).
Wyspianski could use several computers with Internet access and air conditioning (at least in rooms facing the street, where it gets loud if we open a window).

You can communicate with the staff in English without problems.

Rooms

Wyspianski's offer consists of almost 160 rooms of different sizes (we can choose between the Standard type and the Standard plus type), prepared with individual tourists and groups in mind.
The rooms aren't expensive, that's why I think it's worth paying a few more Euros and reserve a „Standard plus” type room. What are the advantages of such decision? First of all, we live in a space approximately twice the size of a standard room, we don't have the impression the room is too narrow, which we'd probably get in a standard room. Secondly, we can have our own balcony (it's best to request such room, because unfortunately the number of balconies is smaller than the number of rooms). Thirdly, there's the possibility of accommodating a third person in the room.
Double rooms of Standard type have the beds arranged in a row, although it would be more convenient to place them in a traditional manner -opposite from one another. However, the rooms aren't too large, rather long and narrow and that's probably the reason for such placement of beds.
All the rooms- singles and doubles- are equipped with bath and shower, telephone, radio, satellite TV.
Unfortunately, there's no air conditioning in Wyspianski, so when June, July and August in Poland seem to get hotter every year (temperature can rise above 35 degrees), that can sometimes be uncomfortable.
Opening the windows won't help, if we have a room facing Westerplatte Street, noise coming from that busy street won't be pleasant.
Regards to the housekeeping staff - despite large crowds of guests in the hotel, the rooms are kept very clean. This is also due to the fact that the furniture and room equipment are in a very good condition - as a result of recent renovation and rearrangement of the interior.
There is one room equipped with the needs of handicapped persons in mind. The hotel is equipped with a lift.

Restaurant

Prepared to accommodate large groups of guests, Wyspianski has also prepared its restaurant for such possibility.
Over a hundred people can meet here for a really good breakfast buffet; it's also not a problem to organize a more formal, evening event for a larger group.
The restaurant has also benefited greatly from the renovation- although it's large, it's really cozy and it's nice to spend some time here.
The menu features European cuisine. Prices are typical of similar restaurants in town (possibly even slightly lower).
The restaurant also includes a drink bar, which is open until 10 PM.
During warm weather, the restaurant's summer garden is open.

In the hotel we'll probably find information about another place worth visiting for dinner or supper- Amadeus Restaurant, located in the cellar of a renovated, 17th century building, a few steps from the Market Square. That restaurant is also property of the hotel.
Columns, frescos, numerous paintings and stylish furnishings, influenced by Italian baroque create a unique ambience and encourage us to try old-style Polish cuisine specialties prepared by the chef.

Conference rooms

Because of its size, the hotel is a perfect place for meetings of large groups. They can use 3 training rooms, which together can accommodate up to 160 persons. The smallest of them would be most comfortable for a group of 25-30 persons. The rooms are air-conditioned, lighted with natural light, with a possibility of darkening if necessary. Professional equipment is available on premises.
The hotel's restaurant provides catering and servicing of related events.

Additional Services

Guests, who come to Wyspianski with their own car, can leave it in a guarded parking, right behind the hotel. 24 hours of parking costs 45 PLN.

We can use a safe in the lobby, baggage storage facilities and a cloakroom free of charge.

Near the lobby we can find a mini gallery, with plenty of souvenirs and small items from Krakow.

The same building as the hotel also houses a casino, a bank and an ATM.

Wyspianski participates in organization of excursions - and while in Krakow, there are two places considered top attractions - Auschwitz and the salt mine in Wieliczka. Front desk staff will help us pleasantly spend time in each of them.

Wyspianski Hotel Krakow

- Location

The hotel is located on one of the main streets of Krakow's very center. The building is very well visible, it's impossible to miss those several stories and several-meter high letters, which spell out its name.

A walk to the Main PKP/PKS Station takes less than 10 minutes. It's a very pleasant walk, because instead of taking a route along the street, we can walk the tree-lined alleys of the Planty. The hotel is situated exactly midway between two tram stops, so it doesn't make very much sense to take a tram.
Near the Station a new shopping centre was built recently - Galeria Krakowska, where we'll find hundreds of shops, restaurants and services.
Tram and bus stop is situated 50 meters from the hotel, so if necessary one can take public transportation for a short ride.
It's an excellent chance to save money on a taxi fare, because from the airport, which is 14 km away, one can easily, quickly and efficiently take public transportation to the Main Station and from there reach the hotel on foot, by tram or bus.
Superb location makes it possible to find many restaurants, bars and various types of shops right near the hotel.
